Just some dad trying to leave a footprint for his kids to walk in if they need to know where to go

Lonnie King is a great guy and a great dad. Don’t believe it? Just ask him…
He is now and has been a lot of different things in his lifetime. Play-by-play voice, writer, speaker, salesman, buyer, son, husband, Dad, handy man, clumsy oaf…
For years, he was immersed in church life. He believed in its power to bring people together, offer purpose, and reveal something sacred. But over time, he began to see something shift—especially as politics, power, and performance started taking priority over grace, humility, and compassion. He found himself disillusioned, even heartbroken.
This blog was born out of that tension.
It’s not an attempt to tear everything down. Or maybe it IS. But, at its core, it is an honest space for sorting through what’s worth keeping, what needs rethinking, and what’s still holy even after you’ve deconstructed the scaffolding around it.
Here, you’ll find reflections on:
Parenting adult children (and what no one tells you about that stage),
Wrestling with faith and doubt without letting either one fully win,
Family, aging, loss, growth, and grace,
And occasionally, just plain life—from a guy trying to live it with meaning.
There’s no 5-step discipleship plan. He’s not here to convert or convince. He’s here to be honest and transparent.
If you’re feeling disconnected from church but still drawn to God… if you’re trying to find the ‘sacred’ in everyday life… if you’re tired of performative religion but still hungry for truth… or if you just want to know you’re not the only one walking this middle road—this blog is for you.
